The hike leads from the village down to the banks of the Río Hozcarganta, which has carved its way between karstic rock formations and cork oaks, and deep into the cork oak forest. Its one of the most beautiful tours through the cork forest, past old farmhouses that look like something out of a film scene from another time, stone slabs in the forest, surprising views over the forest, a varied, fantastically beautiful tour.
The highest point of our hike is called Laguna Escondida, a small, hidden lagoon that only has water in the rainy season and is only used as a ‘pool’ by wild animals. We hike back on a different path along the Cañuelo River. Depending on the time of year and the temperature of the day, the Hozcarganta and Cañuelo rivers invite you to take a cool dip in their natural stone pools.
