A two days getaway to the "Royal Tin Factory" Wine Bodega
Experience a beautiful hiking route through the blooming chestnut forests of the Serranía de Ronda and the tranquil Genal River Valley. This unforgettable journey combines nature, culture, and fine wine — with a tasting, dinner, and overnight stay at the historic winery “The Royal Tin Factory.”
Our walk follows peaceful mountain paths and quiet country roads in the Ronda Mountains. Along the way, we pass through blooming chestnut forests, traditional white villages, and even a charming blue village. The trail leads us through farmland and ancient woods, past abandoned houses steeped in history, and alongside rivers with refreshing waterfalls.
We descend to the banks of the Genal River, where vineyards stretch across the landscape and our destination awaits: the beautifully restored Old Royal Tin Factory. Abandoned for centuries and lovingly transformed over 30 years ago into an organic winery, it is now home to a remarkable bodega full of character and history.
Here, a guided historical visit, wine tasting, delicious dinner, and a restful night in unique surroundings complete the experience. An extraordinary and truly unforgettable adventure.
Day 1
From Cartajima to Juzcar, Faraján and to the Old Royal Tin Factory
Our route begins in the picturesque village of Cartajima, hiking towards Juzcar, the famous Blue village. We visit this curious place where the "Smurfs" live amongst the villagers and after a short coffee break, we continue our route to Faraján. On a little D-tour from this village we can visit the waterfalls "Chorreras de Balastar" to freshen up. Back in the village, we can have some tapas before we continue our route to the Old Royal Tin Factory next to the Genal River. A historical visit awaits us that will reveal all the secrets of this wonderful and mysterious place, as well as a tasting of the estate's own wines and a delicious dinner.

Day 2
From the Tin Factory to Pujerra and back to Cartajima
After breakfast, we begin the day with a short walk to the nearby waterfall known as Cima del Diablo, a spectacular natural spot popular for rock climbing and canyoning. While adventurers test their skills on the cliffs, we simply take time to enjoy the refreshing cascade — the perfect morning wake-up in the heart of nature.
From here, our route ascends towards Moclón, a deserted village of Moorish origin, where traces of the past still linger in the landscape. Surrounded by forest and silence, this hidden place offers a glimpse into the region’s rich history before we continue our hike through shaded woodland trails.
Pujerra, a charming white village nestled in the Genal Valley, welcomes us with its peaceful atmosphere and authentic Andalusian character. After a well-earned rest, we complete our circular route back to Cartajima.
We then return to the Costa del Sol, carrying with us unforgettable memories of nature, history, and the authentic spirit of rural Andalusia.
