Sierra de las Nieves - The Alcojada peak

The nature reserve Sierra de las Nieves has only recently been declared National Park, among other things for it's amazing bio diversity and beauty. It is the home for many botanical rarities, one of them the Pinsapo tree, an ancient type of fir tree, with only find 4 forests in the world. We are going to walk to one of the oldest examples of these trees, declared a national monument. From there we walk up to the top of the Alcojada peak, and continue our way, down towards the valley of the Río Verde. A very beautiful route, but with some difficulty, it is often steep and rocky, and partly very overgrown with thorny bushes.
