Hilltop villages in the Ronda Mountains - autumn colors
Circular route through chestnut forests, with amazing views to the mountains and villages
This hike is fantastically beautiful, especially in autumn, when the chestnut trees change color and turn golden.
The typical mountain villages of Parauta and Igualeja lie approximately 800m above sea level in the Ronda Mountains, between the National Park of Sierra de las Nieves and the Genal valley. The remote villages preserve their traditions and like to tell their legends to the hiker with a glass of wine.
We iniciate our walk at the spring of the Genal River, coming out of a rock-cave with ice-cold water. right outside the village centre of Igualeja and continue our walk through chestnut forests to Parauta. In Parauta we may have lunch in a lovely village restaurant before walking back to Igualeja on a different path.
