Wonderful circular hike from Jimena through the cork oak nature park, one of the largest cork forests in Europe, over the Río Hozgarganta to a small lagoon, hidden in the deepest forest

Our route takes us from the village down to the river Hozcarganta. The landscape around the riverbanks is very unique and spectacular. It is one of the most stunning routes within the cork forest, we pass old farmhouses, that seem part of a film scene from another time, steep rock slabs in between deep forest.

At the highest point of our walk we reach a place called "Laguna Escondida", the hidden lagune, from there we walk back on another path, just as beautiful. Down in the valley the two rivers, Cañuelo and Hozcarganta invite to a refreshing swim in their natural stony pools (weather permitting).

At the end of the tour we have the possibility to have some very nice tapas at the village square or along the route, according to the time we get back.

Please bring

Hiking shoes, sun and rain protection, enough water. Bathing suit if you want to swim in the river, highly recommended especially in good weather. Some food, it might get a bit late by the time we get to the village.
