Tarifa - Roman Quarry - forest and coast
Circular hike through pine forest and a sandstone canyon to a quarry, from which the Romans fetched the stones for the construction of the city of Baleo Claudia, and from there down to the Atlantic coast
We start this tour with an ascent through the pine forest, following a sandstone caynon, to the Roman quarry, a curious testimony from the glorious times of the Romans in Andalusia, almost swallowed up by the forest, right next to it a bunker from the previous century. From there we hike down a sandy path back to the coast and after a swim in the Atlantic, following the coast back to the starting point. This stretch of coast is one of the most beautiful in Europe, with white sand, bizarre rock formations and a wonderful view of the African coast just opposite.
