The other pillar of Hercules - Jbel Moussa
Ascent to Jbel Moussa, the counterpart to the Rock of Gibraltar on the African side. The "Pillars of Hercules" guard the entrance to the Mediterranean. Travelling from Algeciras to Ceuta by helicopter
On many of our hikes, we see the two impressive rocky mountains right on the Strait of Gibraltar. They form an important landmark for us hikers in the mountains of Andalusia. When we are hiking in Tarifa we are right opposite Jbel Moussa, only 14 kilometres separate us from the African continent. This time we are drawn across to the other side.
There is a regular helicopter connection from Algeciras to Ceuta, the Spanish enclave on Moroccan soil, and we take advantage of this offer and the opportunity to get to know Ceuta better. Two nights in the Parador Hotel, with a city tour and a walk before dinner on the first day and a walk on the beach on the day before departure are available to us.
The day after our arrival, we climb Jbel Moussa.
THE ROUTE UP TO THE JBEL MOUSSA
